A finished backyard on the water: mixed perennial beds under a shade tree, stamped concrete and cut lawn running to the lake. A front yard graded to a new concrete drive with bark terraces across the frontage. An outdoor kitchen on a paved patio in full sun: a run of counter with a built-in grill, bar seating and planting behind it. A curved rendered seat wall holding the grade back off a poured-concrete pad, with tinted stone steps running up to the house. A paver walk lit along its length at dusk, running between boulder-edged planting beds. A hillside frontage part-way through construction: cut-and-fill terraces freshly mulched, a river-rock swale along the kerb and a new paver walk to the door.

A whole yard from bare dirt, or one part of it done properly. The order is the job: water and grade are settled before anything is poured, and turf goes down last so nothing later has to cross it.

What’s underneath matters.

Grade, drainage, base preparation and retaining work go in before the finished surfaces.
